TNT Express will implement an investment plan worth 14.3 million euros. Its goal is to increase efficiency and modify the infrastructure at the TNT Express European road hub in Duiven (Netherlands).
The program, which will be finalized in October of this year, is the result of a significant increase in the number of shipments over the last six years. Additionally, TNT Express expects a significant increase in the number of shipments to and from countries that joined the European Union in 2004 over the coming years. Investments in the development of road connections, including in Poland, and the planned construction of a regional transshipment center in Warsaw, which will be responsible for handling traffic between Eastern and Western Europe, will contribute significantly to the revival of demand for Economy Express services (provided within the TNT road network) in Eastern European countries.
Investments in Duiven will create approximately 100 additional jobs in the Netherlands alone. The investment plan confirms the key importance of the Duiven hub for TNT Express, which handles 126,000 shipments and 5,700 tons of freight per week. The investment includes, among other things, increasing the sorting area by 3,500 sq. m., doubling sorting capacity to 11,000 items per hour, increasing the number of loading docks to 116, and additional facilities for staff and drivers.
