Freight Transport Results in July 2025

In July 2025, almost 18.8 million tons of cargo were transported – the highest monthly result since the beginning of this year. Compared to July 2024, the number of passengers increased by 6%, while the volume of transported goods fell by 1.3%.
In July, trains carried nearly 18.8 million tons of freight, which means a decrease of 243,000 tons (-1.3%) compared to July 2024. Freight performance reached almost 4.9 billion tonne-kilometres, down by 164 million tonne-kilometres (-3.3%) year on year. Operational performance amounted to just under 6.9 million train-kilometres – more than 0.2 million train-kilometres less (-3.2%) than a year earlier. The average transport distance of 1 ton of cargo reached nearly 259.5 km, which was 5.3 km shorter than in July 2024.
In July, rail transported almost 1.3 million tons more (+7.3%) than in June this year. Freight performance by rail increased by nearly 0.4 billion tonne-kilometres (+8.1%). Operational performance was higher by 0.6 million train-kilometres (+9.2%) compared to the previous month. The average transport distance of one ton of cargo was 2 km longer than in June 2025. These are the best monthly results this year.
In the first seven months, freight trains transported just over 123.7 million tons of goods, which compared to the same period in 2024 means a decrease of 5.9 million tons (-4.6%). Freight performance amounted to more than 31.8 billion tonne-kilometres, i.e. 2.3 billion tonne-kilometres less (-6.8%) year on year. Operational performance reached almost 45 million train-kilometres, down by 2.9 million (-6%) compared to the corresponding months in 2024.
